Welcome to the story behind the story!

I’m Daphne, the heart and mind behind "Yellow Duck," and I’m thrilled to share the journey of how this whimsical tale came to life. "Yellow Duck" is more than just a picture book; it’s a love letter to childhood, friendship, and the enduring bonds that shape our lives.

About Daphne

Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, and now calling Bogart, Georgia, home, I am a wife, mother, and creator. My husband, Collen Powell, has been my steadfast partner through life’s adventures, while my teenage son, Garrett, continues to inspire me with his boundless energy and dreams. Our loyal dog, Jake, is never far behind, adding his own special brand of joy to our family dynamic.

My educational journey began at The University of West Georgia, where I graduated in 1996. That same year, I embarked on a career as an international flight attendant for a global airline—a role that has allowed me to explore the world, immerse myself in diverse cultures, and cultivate a deep appreciation for the connections that unite us.

Whether soaring through the skies or spending cherished moments at home, I’ve always sought to balance adventure with the grounding love of family and friends. Some of my happiest moments are spent cheering on Garrett at his baseball games, decorating our home, traveling, reading, or simply gathering with loved ones.

Throughout my life, I’ve been deeply influenced by the wisdom and kindness of my late father, Ken Bedelle. He was a man of genuine sincerity, a godly servant who gave selflessly to those around him. His legacy is a guiding light in my life, reminding me to listen for life’s quiet lessons, cherish its simple gifts, and never give up on dreams—no matter how old they may seem.

As I look ahead, my goals are rooted in love and purpose. I aim to continue raising Garrett, supporting him as he transitions into adulthood and begins his own journey. I hope to see him off to college, cheering him on every step of the way. On a personal level, I intend to expand my writing portfolio, sharing more stories that inspire, connect, and bring joy to readers young and old.

My work as an international flight attendant remains a fulfilling chapter in my life, allowing me to blend my passion for travel with my love of storytelling. Whether I’m 30,000 feet in the air or seated at my desk crafting tales, I find joy in exploring the world and sharing its wonders through words.
